In general, it does what it needs

Does the job but it would be better if it was 4-6 inches wider to keep the dog from coming down the stairs. I have a German Shepherd, so I doubt the same problem would arise with a smaller dog. It would also be great if the base of the stairs extended wider for the first climb as I have to line my dog up all the time so he can climb the stairs properly without a misstep.
