The most amazing thing about this pair is how comfortable they are in your hand. It LOOKS primitive and uncomfortable, but that's not all. I have small hands, but I've found my fingers to wrap around the handles very comfortably, and the simplest rubber(?) covered handles provide good cushion. Also, they are unusually sharp - much sharper than most household scissors - we have several branded pairs (even the one that came with our global set - lovely pair of knives!) that don't match at all. We use it for normal everyday use - mainly paper, but it's nice to hear and feel it cutting so clearly. If it ain't broke, why fix it? Those old blacksmiths knew what they were doing.
