These are really nice novelty lamps. I bought one for my youngest child and then everyone in the house wanted one... Of course. This matches the quality and performance of others we've had before. It comes with a remote control that makes it much easier to change the cycle or colors. There is a way to do this by pressing or holding the power button, but it's a lot harder and to be honest I never get it right on the first try. There's a fast cycle and a strobe cycle and a smooth cycle and just one solid color. There's another one called Fade, but it doesn't seem any different than a smooth loop. We tried putting batteries in the compartment (you need 3 AA), it didn't work. I think this was due to the design of the batteries themselves, which have a slightly shorter top of the button. In any case, we replaced them with normal alkaline lamps and they worked great. It's fun stuff for kids, but it's not bright enough to be used as a lamp by itself. If you look at one of the photos I'm posting (predator) you can see that the white light is actually more of a light blue. I think that applies to many LEDs, so be aware that they are not bright white lights. Otherwise they are really wonderful for the little ones.
