Ideal for re-sharpening knives. I have about a dozen who have gone to varying degrees of stupid and this has taken care of them all. I like the two tier option if needed. For the most part I only used the fine sharpening option as my knives were in good condition (if a bit dull). I had a couple that needed extra help and the coarser option definitely helped them. The tool itself is lightweight, doesn't take up much space, and feels secure. The bottom has a "handle" to prevent it from moving during use. The ultimate test, of course, was that after sharpening, I could chop the tomatoes without making tomato sauce out of them! In general very satisfied.
