The design of this cover is wrong from the start. If you don't take the time to close it properly every time, it will break. If you carry it around, or even loosely close it with a metal object, all of the force required to depress the seal is transferred to the 1/4" piece of plastic in the hatch. This thin piece of crap showed signs of breaking within a few days of using this cap. The only positive thing I can say about this product is that at least it doesn't leak like other Nalgene lids (I don't recommend the one with a straw either). I think it's literally the only product I've applied for an Amazon refund for all the years I've used Amazon. It is very frustrating to see Nalgene selling these horrible quality products. Just stick with the original lid style, if you insist you're probably better off using a third-party lid. Nalgene only seems to know one thing: bottles. Not even lids, just bottles.
