First off, this product was great right out of the box. Shipping was fast and came much earlier than expected. The kit is designed to be installed under the sink to collect tap water and drain bad water. Part of the installation process involves drilling a drain pipe under the sink, which isn't a big deal even for a beginner. However, the pipes must be made of plastic to make drilling easier and to minimize the chance of leaks. This eliminates the possibility of connecting to the drainage system of many semi-bathrooms or private bathrooms, as it is designed to connect to pipes to remove debris. You need to buy teflon pipe thread tape, the book says to wrap it 3 times but I stress you need to wrap it at least 6-8 times to avoid spatter and leaks. I would recommend that you wrap all the threads of your hose in teflon tape (everything you unscrew should be wrapped 4-5 times even if it has never been wrapped). The book recommends drilling with a 1/8" bit and then switching to a 1/4" bit, this worked for me and my bit died halfway through so I had to do it by hand. Excellent investment. This increased my PPM from >200 to 9 and my PH from 6.5 to 8.3 after running the recommended 2 full tanks to get rid of factory sanitation residue. It was a fun project to do on my day off and I will enjoy the fruits of my labor for years to come. Thanks for good business.
