
I've had two of these in the last 3 years or so. Almost 2 years later, the first one started throwing errors and then completely failed with all drives connected until the computer shut down for a few minutes. After about 1 year, the second one drops out, the computer has to be switched off completely for a few minutes so that I can use the card for up to 4 hours. I don't think this is an issue with I/O Crest. I'm pretty sure I had a different issue with a similar Marvell chipset card from another manufacturer. I just think Marvell isn't making its budget SATA controller chips for the long haul. This time there are pre-built cards in the same price range with a different non-Marvel chipset, so I'm switching and crossing my fingers. On the other hand, it is easy to install, works out of the box with Windows 7/10 and Ubuntu, and only costs $20. You may have better luck than me with long-term use. My computer is on almost all the time, so that's 1-2 years of continuous use.
