Perfect grip for cutting paper and cardboard without tearing or re-taping. Carpets or even Silhouette carpets, and sits a few millimeters to the left and up - enough to seriously mess up my cuts and end up with objects being cut from the bottom and right over the edges of the paper. Be sure to use another mat to line up the edges of the grid (I used a marker on this mat to mark where the grid should start). Otherwise amazing value! Also, they have a VERY strong vinyl smell that doesn't seem to dissipate quickly (I've had mine for about a month), so be careful, if you are sensitive to smell! It's not bad
