Review on πŸ“· Sekonic 401-208 Twin Mate Light Meter: Reliable Black/White Model by Jonathan Clark

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very nice little meter

I bought it for several purposes. Going back to black and white film, I wanted something small that would fit in the trunk of my Leica M6 and Kodak Retina. Another reason is that now that I use it a lot, my Sekonic L-478D is draining at an incredible rate. That's partly because I leave it on when I'm shooting, as I don't like the start time every time I want to meter the light. usually immediately with the L-478D. Sometimes it is half a stop away from the L-478D, possibly due to the L-208's much smaller canopy. Of course in reflection it's a different story as the L-478D has a relatively small spot mount range, the L-208 reads a much larger range, I think the same angle as a 50mm lens, that is what i read I like the out of the box quality of the L-208 compared to the long boot time of the L-478D. I also like looking at the command dial and seeing all combinations of shutter speed and aperture without having to do it in my head or change settings like the L-478D. Of course, the small size is also a big advantage.

Pros
  • light meter and accessories
Cons
