I bought this item to use with a new Toyota Tacoma SR5 truck that has what is called a USB memory port on the dash. My intention (hopefully) was to use this to solve Toyota's really stupid decision to remove the wired 3.5mm aux-in port, and I hoped that would allow me to connect my digital MP3 player and get audio through the speakers of my car could hear. The USB media port (with this cable) only works with an Apple product. Third-party MP3 players like FiiO or Pyle or other non-Apple manufacturers will not work. Apparently Toyota worked with Apple to make their USB media port. to support Apple products only.
