Review on Trans Dapt 4606 Motor Mount Kit by Doug Nelson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not quite as expected

So the first set I bought didn't fit and the second set didn't work either but luckily one of them was good so I was able to return the bad pair and keep them the ones that worked. Then I installed them in the truck, using the same 4.3 that used to live in the truck as an upgrade mount. These mounts have moved the engine forward and up, it's still out of the hood but barely, and the exhaust headers are now flush with the upper control arm bushings. In order to get the brackets in the correct hole so the motor stays in the lowest (but still too close) position I had to trim the brackets. To use the gear support legs, re-cut the bracket. This thing is heavy steel, lots of grinding (even managed to set my shirt on fire) and after all that fiddling with them I won't be able to use them, and of course after they've been slaughtered they won't come back . The source of the forward bias appears to be the side frame mount, which is symmetrical but the stock mounts are not, so the engine is forward biased. I think the motor is on top because it's a stronger mount. I can still try trimming the grooves to get it moving back where it belongs, only frustrated that it's taking so much work.

Pros

Cons
  • Lots of stuff
