Velcro should definitely be stronger. I've had stronger velcro straps on my Halloween costumes. Luckily my dash is melting from the sun so I managed to glue it on. It's a good cover for the dash that looks melted in and I can put my fast food on it while driving home and it doesn't slide all over the place. The fabric is dense and durable as I love my men. I would recommend this product to other people.
