From identifying a vagrant in our yard (see my video) to spotting game in the woods, these night vision binoculars from Vmotal are a fun and useful tool for field spotting dark. Unlike "military" night vision goggles that amplify starlight and other ambient light, these night vision binoculars generate their own light, a powerful (variable) beam of invisible infrared radiation that easily illuminates a view of nearly 1,000 feet and allows you to be within absolute darkness, even in enclosed spaces such as basements, cellars and tunnels. During the day or when there is sufficient lighting, the image through the binoculars is colored; Night vision switches the display to monochrome. A 32GB memory card (included) allows me to capture both stills and video of whatever I see on screen, and the 4x digital zoom allows me to get a closer look when needed. . The powerful infrared light can be adjusted in seven levels (in addition to "off"), so I can brighten the scene if necessary. The binoculars can be set to turn off automatically after 3, 5 or 10 minutes of inactivity to conserve batteries; There's a menu to set this option, as well as date stamp, video resolution, language, etc. I expect they'll be used for wildlife viewing rather than security or verification purposes, but they'll be very useful in those applications too. I am thrilled with the Vmotal night vision binoculars and would recommend them to anyone who can use these features.
