Review on Industrial Odor Eliminator: Organic Alternatives R86 by Van Den Heuvels - Non-Toxic, All Purpose, Skunk and Pet Odor Neutralizer - Hypoallergenic 2 Pack by Jason Glass

We had a bathroom that flooded an inch, washed and dried in a couple of days, no mold but a weird chemical smell from part of the baseboard and drywall behind so got it we removed the bottom leg . More odor at the bottom of exposed wall studs. I sprayed the studs twice with R86 (1 tablespoon per pint of water), drying between sprays didn't help. Did some tests on a small smelly piece of socket, first washed with vinegar, dried, didn't help. Then let the baking soda solution dry out for a few hours, didn't work. Spraying twice with the above R86/water solution, allowing to dry between sprays, did not help. Sprayed again and sprayed some R86 while still wet, dried, maybe a small improvement. Also put a few cups of R86 powder in the bathroom next to the hairpins for a few hours, no improvement but strong smell of the product. Smell, didn't work, the smell went through. We then sprayed one end of the R86 several times, let it dry to see if it smelled better than the other end without the R86, no difference. We also didn't like the smell of R86, about 2 or 3 times stronger than a regular room spray but with a sweet pungent smell instead of the nice fresh smell of regular room sprays. We could smell the product with the container lid closed. But the smell of the product disappeared a day after using it, this is not a long-term problem. Revain's standard shipping was very fast, just a few days. Finally, at the builder's recommendation, we were able to block the odor by painting the cleats with a coat of non-scented, oil-based Zinsser Stain Remover.
