My dog only works well with the beeper, sometimes he gets a little distracted and I can easily switch it to vibrate. We don't use shock because he's learned to listen for the beep to determine if he's doing something inappropriate. I like the multiple strength settings for vibration and shock, just in case I accidentally change the mode to shock my dog won't feel it as it's set to '0'. The range is quite long, I've only tried to 200ft and it worked, I've bought this collar twice. The first lasted almost 3 years, not bad for a $40-$50 item. It stopped taking the charge so I bought 2 this time. It is ideal for dogs that love water. If your dog is anything like mine (an off-leash stray), this collar will work. There is a special way of training dogs with these braces. I know one person who used it every time the dog did something that caused the dog to ignore various settings. I would suggest having this pet trainer as a backup for your regular discipline. My dog sees it as his way to adventure. , be it a park, a lake or a fenced yard. He sees it and is very excited.*** If you buy it, test it for a few days so you can test the battery life on the dog and in standby. I had to replace one because it wasn't holding a charge. They were great and immediately sent me a new one. Although I should have waited, they sent one as soon as I reported it. Excellent customer service.
