While I can't confirm the wavelength of the light output, it's definitely somewhere in the ultraviolet. I was a little apprehensive when I first turned it on as it seemed like it was emitting a lot of "white" light. After doing some testing and irradiating different surfaces, I found that the light output is mostly in the UV range. It is VERY bright and will illuminate anything that fluoresces, even in a dimly lit room. I have one of the small UV lamps that are said to be useful for finding pet urine and has 9 LEDs. This should make the room almost completely dark, even hinting that something is emerging. With this light (it has 3 LEDs) you will see things you never wanted to know. I also like the fact that you can use a 18650 or 26650 Li-ion battery in this light. It comes with a plastic cover to fit an 18650 battery. My main reason for buying it wasn't to hunt scorpions but I suspect it will be great for that. It is definitely good for detecting traces of pet accidents, etc. on carpets. Edit: Today (March 31, 2017) I received an optical filter that blocks almost all visible light but lets UV light through. I checked the filter and it blocks visible light. Then I shone this UV flashlight through the filter. A phenomenal amount of UV radiation passed through them. All the ordinary things that fluoresce in ultraviolet light shone like crazy. I still can't confirm the wavelength of the light it emits, but it emits a lot of light in the UV range. Edit: I had this flashlight in my pocket and it accidentally turned on. Looks like at least one of the LEDs has overheated. This was probably because it was on for some time before the battery died completely, and also because it was in a pocket, which likely allowed it to build up more heat than normal. Anyway, I bought a new 365NM lamp holder tablet to replace the damaged one. I don't know if the overall performance of the damaged one was much lower than the new one, but the new light is significantly brighter.
