This was not a cloudy aquarium, I just wanted polished water to remove organics and nitrates. Getting gear out of the tank was a priority, amazing clarity was a bonus. The Aqueon is a 45 gallon tall, black rimmed, low tech, sumpless saltwater FOWLR. Many setups are designed for rimless tanks, this part fits over the black rim 3 inches below the waterline without modification. After using the UV sterilizer and protein skimmer for 2 years, I was surprised that it was noticeably cleaner after 24 hours of use. Only one clarifier is now used, a Fluval 110 HOB filter and a Fluval 70 HOB filter for backup and circulation. *Updated* tank photo under LEDs in low light, 72 hours on, 48 hours after skimmer removal.
