I've just tried a Bissell steam mop and decided to write a brilliant review. It arrived today and took less than 5 minutes to assemble. So only a caveman can do it. I followed the directions (note to other dissatisfied reviewers) to the letter. Once the ready light has stabilized after a brief warm-up period, fill the tank with distilled water (no peak water and DEFINITELY no chemicals) and select the lowest steam setting. Before embarking on my vaping adventure, I vacuumed all of the floors to keep them free of dirt. Our house is a mix of laminate and stone. We also live in a chemical and fragrance free home, so I've avoided fragrance discs. We don't need fake artificial smells. I chose the lightest setting for the laminate as I didn't want to over wet the floor. I made a careful drawing, line by line, to go over the laminate twice. The upward motion blew out steam, and then the downward motion made sure the sturdy mop head got the job done. Our floors weren't in terrible shape, but dirt, stains, and streaks remained from family gatherings. Also, two dogs, who seem to enjoy bringing whatever they find outside to the house, completed the condition of the floor. I immediately noticed that the floors looked clean even though they were still a bit damp. The mop glides nicely across the floor and I have to say it was quite a bit of fun. A little music and I'm a cleaning machine. Curiosity got the better of me, so I took the mop and put my hand under it to see how hot the steam was. word to the wise. Steam is hot. That's why it's steam. And the steam hurts. After floors and stairs I moved on to stone tiles in the entryway, kitchen and bathrooms. Once again I felt it cleaned well. A quick inspection of the previously white pad revealed that the pad was now adorned with a dark gray color. That showed me that it works. I increased the par to average when I entered. This is the dirtiest part of the house and I got it right that the extra steam won't harm the stone. With increased settings, the mop turned into a dirty dervish that nothing stood in its way. It wasn't difficult to complete the steam adventure. It only took a minute to clean and properly store the mop. I spent a good fifteen minutes fondling my now clean floors. My wife was suitably impressed and often commented on how good everything looked. This is how the early hunter-gatherer must have felt after grabbing a mastodon for family packaging. All in all, I highly recommend this steam cleaner. It's lightweight, easy to use, and most importantly, you can impress failures too.
