Review on πŸ’Ž DMT D3EFC Dia Sharp Ultra-Fine Diamond by Carta Gutierrez

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Poor diamond surface on the green map. Terribly bad

Extremely unimpressed. The first image is rough/blue, the second normal/red, both are fine at best with their surface. Finally, the green plate I place in front of my larger green rock is also DMT. The green plate (out of three packs) has the absolute worst surface finish I have had on a ceramic "stone"/plate. These very shiny nicks are from trying to break the plate with 1095 steel, which is the softest steel I personally sharpen. There are massive pieces of diamond that feel like boulders. I've been using DMT for over a decade now and have never had to deal with mesh/grain mismatch like this on other records I own. All diamond inserts have a rest period during which they begin to cut one at a time and the feel changes. I've already broken the blue and red panels and they work fine. I'm worried that if I try to use the green sheet it will either keep chipping off the edges of the blade or lose all of its diamond. My old greenstone never had these issues from the same company so either the quality has gone down a lot or they don't care about the quality of the small cards to get customers to spend more on their other products. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, especially if you're trying to sharpen a blade you care about. Bite the bullet and pay a lot more for a diafold I guess.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
