I bought this for my wife because she wanted her macbook pro to look like her iphone, this is a "rose gold" (pink metallic) phone. She was so lucky to have the right phone and computer so it was money well spent. The coating protects against scratches and light impacts. Don't drop your laptop on hard surfaces from any distance - it doesn't help much in this case, but it does provide good protection for normal laptop handling. So if you or your wife want matching rose gold gadgets, I highly recommend this product.
