Review on Dorman C660992 Parking Brake Cable by David Stewart

Buy the best genuine parts Brake system

This is a review of the left and right parking brake cables for a 2008 Tacoma. The length was correct but overall the finish was less than the originals I shot. The clamping points are rubber sliders as opposed to the fixed metal points found on the original equipment. On the passenger side, the heat shield is minimal compared to original equipment. Both are minimal compared to running cables in a tunnel under the cup holder. The Toyota version has a rubber boot several inches long, giving the installer some room to install properly while also protecting from the elements. This dorman has a boot about an inch long and was difficult to work with. I finally gave up. My truck is 11 years old so I'm not worried about it rusting. But if I had to do it again, I would buy original parts.

Pros
  • Durable materials - electroplated hardware prevents corrosion
Cons
  • I'm silent
