Drive needs an app to "back up" your phone, iCloud already does that. So it's superfluous. It allows you to copy or move your photos/documents to disk and it works well. Although classified as USB 3.0, the speed is similar to a good USB 2.0. You're lucky to see 15-18 MB/s. Other USB 3.0 drives that reach 500 MB/s are rather disappointing. Being more of a 'backup', the images are saved in Apple's proprietary Live Photo format, preventing them from being viewed on a PC. Disappointed again because I can watch them on Mac without using this disc. I do this to move pictures to PC and free up space on iPhone.
