Review on Legrand OnQ VM1002 1x8 Enhanced Passive Video Splitter for Optimal 1GHz Performance by Dustin Wright

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great for On-Q/Legrand cabinets. Better than 1x8 for signal loss.

It does its job. Fits in an On-Q cabinet. Signal loss is much less than the On-Q 1x8 VM1002 I have. We started having phone dropouts from the cable modem phone adapter. Switching to 1x4 kept the device connected. The insertion loss of 1x4 is 7dB versus 11dB for 1x8. It comes with an AC1007 mount. Just look inside the box under the cardboard liner. If you already have a VM1001 or VM1002 that you would like to downsize, you can leave this bracket installed in your cabinet and simply pull out the middle panel and replace it with the VM1000. If you are not using all ports, be sure to terminate them with 75 ohm F-type terminators such as the F-Type 75 ohm Terminator - 10-pack. It has an internal 6kV voltage regulator but no ground point. It's designed for indoor use, so your outdoor cable outlet should already have a built-in coax grounding block. My reasons for 4 stars? No ground point (no reason given). And it's much larger than a regular 4-way splitter without the fancy mounting bracket.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Tape
