So far so good - Accessory

I was very hesitant to buy this at first but after doing a lot of research on what tapes were used in my house and what I had to work with, so I decided to give it a try. I ended up using the existing RG6 cable network in my house to connect the pressurization system; This installation method may not be ideal for you, but it definitely worked for me. I used my existing RG6 wiring at my house, a "TPI 5000A adapter kit" and a 10 foot chain link support tube as an antenna stand. I provisionally installed the antenna with the equipment that came with it and attached the mast to one of those green wire poles that were driven into the ground. I routed the cable from the antenna to the CATV outside the home and tied the Yagi antenna's N-connector to one of the spare RG6 cables in the access box. I used a TPI 3015 UHF mini jack to connect the RG6 cable and then a TPI 3307-N plug to connect the N Yagi jack. The TPI 3001 universal connector connects the TPI 3015 and 3307 connectors together and you will need two sets of these for both ends of the RG6 cable. All my network interfaces (RG6, Cat5/Cat6, telephone cables) run to a communication closet in my house, so to speak. Finally I added another TPI connector adapter I had made on the other end of the RG6 and connected the booster system to it. I turned on the amp and looked for a place to install a wall antenna in the house. Needless to say, the internal antenna, while working, isn't that great. I ended up having to set up an indoor antenna in my bedroom as my wife didn't want holes in the walls to install in our living room (laughs!). During the test I definitely had less than -95dB signal rise (mostly from 1 bar to 3 bars) in the bedroom. But I noticed a signal drop of -110+ (up to 1 bar) in the cell phone test applications when I left the room and went to another. I ended up having to install a Verizon Jetpack 8000l access point next to the indoor antenna. I tested the installation for 48 hours and adjusted the antenna if necessary. I ended up with a semi-permanent installation using two 10ft (20ft) pole sections to hold the antenna well above the roofline when I installed the antenna near my house. We don't disconnect that many calls and are able to stream Revain shows and surf the web without much disruption, which is why I gave this product 4 stars. TPI fittings can be purchased individually from "Tequiptment.net", simply search their website for the part numbers above (FYI, their shipping and handling charges are NONE!). See the photos I posted on this page. The cell phone apps I used for general testing (of course they're not accurate) are LTE Discovery, OpenSignal, Network Cell Lite, and Coverage. Much luck.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
