This device does a lot right and only a few mistakes. Let's start with what works well here. You have the option to stream to almost any streaming platform directly from this box. All without the need for a PC. The mobile app works pretty well with it, and I would definitely recommend that you use the app instead of trying to navigate menu systems on the device's tiny screen itself. The device also has an integrated web interface that can also be used for configuration. Your stream will max out at 1080p 60fps, but that's pretty standard for most streaming needs, even in a professional setting. There is also an SD card built into the side of the device. This gives you the opportunity to get an instant copy of your stream. Keep in mind that this is a compressed version of your stream so the quality isn't very impressive, but it's a fantastic security feature. Another big plus for me was the ease of use of this device as a wireless video system. This device can create its own wireless access point. So when I'm shooting videos on set, I have a Vidiu X connected to my camera, and the client can just connect to their iPad and get a live feed of everything I'm shooting. It really is a mobile system. You connect this device to a PD-enabled USB power bank (which is the latest USB bank these days) via USB-C, and since you don't need a PC to stream, the only remaining items you need are a camera and a stable internet connection that allows you to take your smartphone with you. You can literally live stream from your high quality mirrorless camera in the middle of the forest if you have a good signal on your phone. Another big plus of this device is the network connection. You can use a wireless connection, an Ethernet connection, as well as the access point's USB device. The device ensures load balancing between all three connections to ensure the most stable stream possible. Please note that you need Teradek's online service, Sharelink, to use this feature. You can pay per gigabyte downloaded or subscribe to a monthly account. Monthly plans cost $25 for a maximum of 50GB of data or $49 for 125GB. That might not sound like a lot of data, but when you're streaming live you're typically between 5 and 15 megabits per second anyway, so those limits are very important. If you are providing a streaming solution for customers who receive this service, this is not an issue. What are the downsides here? Warm for one. This little box gets very hot. If you stream for more than an hour, this device gets pretty hot, but not to the point where you could burn yourself or anything. It's just warmer than I would ever want with my electronics. Luckily there's a fan, so I don't think you'll ever see damage to the device from overheating. Do not use this device in a pocket or other location where airflow is restricted. Personally, I would have preferred the device to be a bit larger if it had helped with cooling. Because this thing is about 4 x 3 x 1 and it's very small. However, because the Vidiu X is so small, it's perfect for attaching to your camera, as I mentioned. There is even 1 4" mounting hole at the base, So you can literally just clip this thing to the side/top of your camera or even your magic hand. I want Vidiu X to have some basic features. add some graphics. With this feature, Vidiu X can be a great solution for game streamers. If you're looking for a basic and simple solution to your streaming needs, this system is really hard to beat, especially at this price point. I think that a person with even basic technical know-how can figure out this device very quickly.
