The phone mount doesn't fit my vent but I keep it anyway. It's excellent value for money and seems stronger than any other mounts I've tried. It fits perfectly in my wife's car and I'm sure it will work well in rental cars when we travel. My car has round, deeper slats on the air vents. The hook that holds on to the slats only extends an inch. I hope to find a similar product that fits my car. I have used other holders in the past that relied on friction. Eventually the holder will come loose. It won't happen with that. It has a hook that grabs the inside of the bar to keep it from coming loose. It's some kind of lightweight cheap plastic, but it's very stiff and feels solid when tightened.
