The device is almost a month old. In order to fit my evo 13.5 tank, I had to saw off the suction cups and the protruding parts of the brackets. It was pretty easy and I did it in about 10 minutes with a bread knife. Once I did that, it has (so far) fitted with no issues. It took about three days for the skimmer to break. I don't see any microbubbles like many others have said. You need to get the right water level to get the right skimming, so play around with that. It took me about two weeks to get the skimmer to pick up a nice brownish foam as shown in the picture.
