The device is almost a month old. In order to fit my evo 13.5 tank, I had to saw off the suction cups and the protruding parts of the brackets. It was pretty easy and I did it in about 10 minutes with a bread knife. Once I did that, it has (so far) fitted with no issues. It took about three days for the skimmer to break. Bought for a 10 gallon AIO water box. Behind it hardly fits and not with suction cups. My tray is 3.5 inches wide and you need to allow about another half inch for the suction cup mounts. This is definitely my favorite nano/mini skimmer. I have a 20 gallon saltwater aquarium with three clowns, two hermit crabs, a snail and a small Hawaiian sand anemone. I've been using this for about 3 weeks in a 29 gallon bug. It is excellent. It spits out a lot of microbubbles at first, wait a bit. After about 8 hours the number of bubbles decreased noticeably and is now at an acceptable level. It takes up quite a bit of space and my glass lid no longer fits. I have to cut the rear window to do this. I find it remarkable that I prefer to cut the glass cover than remove the skimmer.
