Cheap and effective, what more could you ask for?

I've been using this for about 3 weeks in a 29 gallon bug. It is excellent. It spits out a lot of microbubbles at first, wait a bit. After about 8 hours the number of bubbles decreased noticeably and is now at an acceptable level. It takes up quite a bit of space and my glass lid no longer fits. I have to cut the rear window to do this. I find it remarkable that I prefer to cut the glass cover than remove the skimmer. It didn't take long to set up, maybe 45 minutes, but I played around with the settings to see if I could stop the bubbles. Don't worry, they won't stop completely. Maybe I am, but I've never owned a protein skimmer that didn't introduce microbubbles into the aquarium. I set it up so the foam rises about halfway up the drip tray. Sometimes the froth overflows into the cup. I get about 3/4 of a can of skim milk a day. My water is crystal clear. This skimmer is pretty quiet. The aquarium is in our living room and the noise is not very noticeable. There are a few things I don't like: 1. It is very difficult to install the holding cup on the device while it is running. This is a stupid design. It shouldn't be as tight as it should be. I considered putting a knife in both pieces to snip some of the plastic, but so far it hasn't bothered me enough to warrant the time. 2. The block interferes with the glass lid of the tank. If they had placed the drain canister and air intake on the back of the unit, I think the tank cover would fit better. At least I wouldn't lose that much of the glass cover.3. The hanging bracket does not allow me to raise the unit high enough to meet the skimmer's waterline requirements. I tried using a block of wood, but in the end I decided to lower the water level in the tank. It seemed like the best compromise. I'm not sure why they made such a bad mount design. They finished the ratchet section too soon. It should reach the top of the mount to allow for a greater range of adjustment. All in all, you can't go wrong with this one. It's inexpensive and effective.
