This is definitely my favorite nano/mini skimmer. I have a 20 gallon saltwater aquarium with three clowns, two hermit crabs, a snail and a small Hawaiian sand anemone. I use Instant Ocean Reef Crystals as well as dietary supplements. Approximately 15 pounds of live rock and a 3 inch layer of live sand. It fits perfectly in the corner of my aquarium and doesn't bother anyone or anything. In fact, my clowns are always hanging around him. However (like all skimmers I think) it has some disadvantages but also many advantages. Advantages: After about a month of operation, there are no more microbubbles. I don't quite understand why everyone is complaining about this, I have absolutely no microbubbles in my tank. And no, I didn't add a sponge or filter thread. Works great; I empty/clean the drip tray about every two days. By this time, a large amount of lime had accumulated in it, and not just watery. It's a nice (I like to call it good because it's not in a tank) thick green-brown color and is ready to be disposed of. Yes, sometimes it doesn't absorb that much (it ends up with wet foam), but usually it does its job well. Easy to set up; Pretty much just plug and play here. Hardly needs to be tuned after chopping. I just adjust it maybe every week/fortnight if needed. Easy to disassemble; Just remove the two pieces that hold it together tightly and you're done. Pretty good price for what it does. I'll be running another tank soon, this time the 15 gallon, and it's definitely my top choice. If only it didn't make that gurgling noise, it would be just perfect. Cons: It's noisy. Not too loud but annoying. I watched this video on YouTube and modified it. However, it still makes that gurgling noise and I don't know why. I assume that somehow water can still get into the valve, I will fix that one day. The adjustment knob is small and difficult to turn. Luckily I've found a good middle ground and can just twist it a little to set it to my desired level. For me it's not that important. Overall this is definitely a great skimmer and I would highly recommend it to anyone with a 25 gallon tank or less. If only they could get rid of that noise.
