A recent kitchen renovation resulted in a new built in peninsula and the loss of the old ceiling fan. I do a lot of canning at home and appreciate having a fan in the kitchen so the only alternative was a wall mounted model. We plugged this unit directly into a wall switch and found that the swing feature actually provided better cooling than what we had before. If you like a fan in your kitchen but hate ceiling fans, this is a good alternative. I have a transitional style kitchen and it looks great. It's quite chunky and heavy and looks great anywhere from a modern industrial design space to a workshop. I am very relieved and satisfied.
