Read this review if the negatives make you think twice

I'm sure some of them have genuine issues noted by other reviewers but I haven't found any of them. I don't know if the negative reviews were due to unrealistic expectations or something else, but these stands are awesome, especially for the price. For recording I use them with an old set of Denon HTIB speakers that claim to weigh 3.5 pounds and even at their maximum height the stands are fairly stable. However, I coldly see pets/kids knocking them over if you use the speakers close to the weight limit AND push them all the way out. I will also talk about the possibility of managing the speaker cable. I think they can work with 14-16 AWG speaker wire if it's a twisted pair in the jacket. People having trouble are probably using the more common zipped speaker wire where +/- is parallel and it certainly won't work here without a hole modification. The hole mentioned (at the top of the stand) is 8.5mm in diameter, so measure your speaker wire! I have a valid complaint that the included wrench has some burrs/rough edges which when tightening the nut (required to keep the post stable) may scratch the black paint on the underside and cause a visible stain to come out from the top of the post is visible. I think this can be avoided if you're careful, but I realized this only happened after the fact. Speaking of scraping paint. Another common complaint is the OmniMount logo, which I don't think shows that well in the picture, but I don't think it matters much. However, if you REALLY hate the logo, I'm sure it can be scratched off the bottom of the stand. At this point, you'll either want to scrape off all of the paint, or just repaint the hole with black paint, and it probably won't be noticeable. Another complaint about the cocking mechanism (basically a set screw). Yes it could be a thumbscrew and yes I find if you keep adjusting the stand it won't work as well but you get what you pay for and it works great if you measure your size, install it once and then leave. alone. I ended up posting this review because the other negatives made me seriously wonder if this would work for my relatively heavy speakers, and it does, and it's cheaper than any other stand I could find other than chipboard . Style. I hope this helps someone who has spent as much time agonizing over the negative reviews as I have!
