Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ Power Up Anywhere with the Go Power! GP-SW1500-12 1500-Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter in Vibrant Yellow by Kevin Nelson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

You get what you pay for and I'm glad I didn't skimp!

This unit replaced a Xantrex pure sine wave inverter that I fried on a widow (accidentally plugged into a trailer while the trailer was plugged in, I learned my lesson). I had high hopes because we live in a rural area with no municipal water supply, and I needed a (relatively) cheap pure sine wave inverter that, in combination with my solar panels and battery, could power a 1/2 HP well pump. This device failed to start the pump even though the locked rotor current was within the specified limits. This unit is very loud, it makes that 120hz hum that I can't get used to, I know exactly when it's on. The unit feels very massive for the performance, and the vents are positioned to allow dust and soot - and wood-clattering - liquids to get straight onto high-voltage parts. About interfacing with the serial port, I have an Arduino that could be connected to its serial port if only they could make the specs available somewhere where I could control my power consumption and efficiency and in an ideal world find a way to stack them, but there it was! EDIT: Upgraded from 4 to 5 stars on Friday 22nd February 2013. I need to correct a few statements and provide some updates on the status of this inverter and the excellent customer service I have received. (1) Support explained that the serial port was only for use with a remote control and couldn't give me any of the information I wanted to connect to the Arduino because it just wasn't possible. (2) While almost every inverter makes noise due to its f and even pure sine wave inverters always have a bit of noise due to high power inductors and transformers etc. I realized that this particular device had an exaggerated problem that was neither typical nor unlike my other power converters (I've since seen others in action in pretty much the same configuration as mine), as well as the Xantrex I roasted and another power converter I've seen in action didn't make the sound that does mine. (3) Eventually I got used to the sound, so I contacted customer service with a warranty claim because it couldn't run much below its specs. Up to this point I hadn't really tested the power range at higher power levels, I paid extra for the extra power if I ever needed it. As soon as I upgraded my battery and decided to take advantage of its increased capacity, I discovered a small defect in it and immediately wrote support with a clear description of my problem and setup. I received an answer almost immediately. I've seen horror stories from users claiming that Go Power refuses to honor their warranty claims, but I haven't found that to be the case, quite the opposite. The representative of their company who contacted me was extremely polite, professional and a pleasure to work with. He very quickly allayed my concerns about their willingness to resolve the issue. Go Power is behind their products! And they've earned my exclusive deal for life - after all, you understand that it's worth paying the extra for a product that's well made and, in the unlikely event that there is a problem, well serviced. I am pleased with how Go Power resolved my issue without resistance, simply by submitting a polite written request detailing my setup and issue. I will buy them SW3000-24 for permanent installation for my parents. House, with three cores of 200 Ah, 24 V, for a combined battery of 14.4 kW. We recommend their products to anyone trying to invest in solar energy. As long as you install their products to their specs and the problem was caused by a defect and not mishandling, they will help you follow their specs is what you should be doing anyway to avoid fires and burned inverters (which not the case with an inverter). I would say to another reviewer who suffered from a blown inverter: Learn like me from my experience making widows with Xantrex and use the correct slow blowing fuse designed for inverters and follow everyone else Specs if you want to protect your investment so it can provide plenty of food security and peace of mind for free for years to come.)
