Terrible snorkel, mask ok

I've never written a Revain review before and waited until I'd finished my snorkeling trip in FL Keys. Just want to save someone else the hassle and inconvenience my son and I experienced using these hoses! I bought both black and blue sets. I'm no expert but I've snorkeled in the Caribbean and Hawaii probably at least 15 times in my life and it was the WORST snorkel I've ever used. With decent experience I coped with it, but I will never use the whistle again. The real problem was the damper on top. It was actually effective in retaining water while diving. The main problem, however, is that if your head isn't at the "ideal" angle, the damper will kick in and cut off the air every time. So move your head to follow the fish? Cut off the air. Are you looking at your son next to you to point out a fish? Cut off the air. And god forbid you lift your head out of the water to see how far you are from the boat! So much water got into the hose aside from the damper - I kept blowing through the valve or spitting the hose over the surface to clean it! I know it was the pipe and not me because the next day I used my husband's almost 20 year old pipe and it was perfect! In fact, my mouth felt cottony with the old whistle from breathing through my mouth so much! The mask was ok. It's pretty small. I have a big head but not a big nose and it was a bit uncomfortable over the bridge of the nose. This is probably a better mask size for older kids and teens than adults. It barely leaked and the leak was probably due to my hair getting stuck under the plastic. It was pretty good in terms of smoke protection. On my second day of snorkeling I used some anti-fog slime (usually diluted baby shampoo) when I first got in the water and the mask stayed completely fog-free. The clips holding the snorkel to the mask were a disaster. They try to simplify things with a flip button. The problem is that if you flip it once or twice, the plastic is so worn it's barely sticking. This has been a problem for both my son and I at different times. In fact, I almost lost my husband's old "good" whistle because of the bell. I had to dive about 10 feet to the bottom near where the boat was anchored to get it! Seller, I don't want to return my money even though you have a guarantee. I just want to give an honest review to help anyone else looking for snorkel gear to take on vacation!
