Many reviews say that the strap is very tight. I bought them for this reason. The group is free. I can stick two fingers under it. The paper that was folded to keep the shoe's shape most likely stretched it. I can't make the shoe smaller or my toe will hit the front of the shoe. Every Nike shoe I've ever owned has been the size I ordered without a problem. For me the band is just a show. The heel counter is slightly higher than the front of the shoe (if that makes sense) and I can feel it in my ankles a bit. I do not recommend buying for lifting weights or walking long distances. They're comfortable for the activities I do and I've decided to keep them!
