Review on πŸ”’ Secure your ride with the SUNLITE Locking Skewer Set w/Key: Ultimate Bike Theft Protection by Eugene Cox

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good skewers with medium security, the product needs two keys and better customer support.

I'll be brief as they are detailed here.1. Pros: In my opinion this is a great tool against random thieves or to protect your bikes on short stops, business trips or in medium to low crime areas. Case in point: I was in downtown Chicago in June 2015 and I stopped. For about 20 minutes in a high traffic area (inside Loop, lots of retail stores and visitors, at dusk) my bike was locked to a secure stand with a crypto U-lock, but no cable around the wheels. However, I had Sunlite Lock n' Roll skewers installed; When I got back to the bike it was pretty obvious that the thief had damaged the bike. Not only was my rear brake released, but the brake fine adjustment screw on the handlebars was also loose. However, it was pretty clear that after this thief released the brakes, he noticed unusual spears and turned to an easier target. When parked for any length of time or in a less public area, I always use a cable lock in addition to the U-lock (and locking spikes) and recommend this practice, as do many cycling trade publications.2. The Bad: Sunlite's customer service is pretty unhelpful. I've lost a key (the only one provided - they absolutely must come with at least TWO keys, as do all locking products like crypto locks, house locks, cars!) and Sunlite customer service doesn't talk about where to get it can extra. Revain is out of stock, the upper Midwest retailers I called are out of stock or don't know when they'll be getting more. Sunlite does not even provide customers with a list of retailers. Very bad customer service. So lock n' roll skewers have saved me a lot of hassle with stolen wheels in a busy urban environment, but they should come with extra keys and make it easier to get replacements.
