Safe best in sport

I just received my e-bike with fat tires and wanted to make it as safe as possible when parked around town. I had to use a long skewer for the front wheel, but that was what worried me the most as it was a quick release. That and the seatpost were very easy to replace and now if I just close the frame I'm not worried about getting the missing parts of the bike back. Very happy with this solution and the price was perfect.

Good and bad. the best in wheels and accessories

As others have said I don't understand why the other end of these wheels is positioned so that it's so easy to grip with a vise. It makes no sense. It would be a great product if they made the other end that you couldn't attach a wrench to. However they are cheap and I had to replace my quick release skewer and they offer extra security over a regular hex wrench set. They don't appear to be the highest quality items but for the price they are fair.

Average security. Made several mods.

Some reviews mention removal forceps. I decided to make it a little harder. He screwed in a screw and stuck it in a drill. Medium speed with a coarse file, after a few minutes it will be much more difficult to remove. So far they fit and work perfectly. The wrench allows a 5mm hex to be inserted into the handle for more leverage. There is a small screw that goes through the 5-way key that threads into the 5-way lock and provides a non-slip position when initially loosening or final screwing…

Great kebabs! on Wheels & Accessories

I love these things. I've put them on my last 3 bikes, the quick release tires/saddles don't last an hour at bay. Yes of course they aren't totally theft proof but they are good enough to be parked on the street all day in 5 years time. never had a tire or saddle stolen while working in Oakland, California (bicycle theft center). I sometimes see wrench marks on skewers where scumbags tried and failed to steal a tire but never succeeded. To be honest, even if the tire was stolen, I feel like…

Does not protect against theft, but helps

Wrong. I unscrewed it with pliers, very easy. In fact, when I need to change a tire I just use pliers, which are easier to find in my tool box than a wrench (I don't plan on carrying one with my house keys). When it comes to security, the difference between a quick release and these skewers is that you need pliers and an extra 15 seconds. I think it got better but I expected more. Here's what to do to fix it. Both sides require a five-sided key and make one side slippery, round and small so it…

Good quality, remember to tighten them a few weeks after installation!

Much safer than the quick releases that came with my bike! I had to tighten them after a couple of weeks of daily driving as they loosened considerably, but after one round of tightening they have stayed secure for the past three months with no issues. I like to carry a small key with me in case I need to adjust the seat height when I'm outside, so I wish it came with two keys so I can keep one at home. Other reviewers are right as the non-key end of the skewers is textured so a thief can use…

Easy to assemble, deters potential thieves

These items are very easy to assemble. I'm a student at UC Davis (aka Bike Central, USA) and we tend to have quite a bit of bike vandalism due to the high number of bikes on campus. Not wanting my wheels to be stolen because the U-lock didn't fit my tire and frame, I went ahead and took a preventive measure by installing these locking skewers. It only took about 5 minutes. I'm glad I did because now I don't have to worry as much about leaving my bike alone in a classroom or dorm. If thieves…

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

I'll be brief as they are detailed here.1. Pros: In my opinion this is a great tool against random thieves or to protect your bikes on short stops, business trips or in medium to low crime areas. Case in point: I was in downtown Chicago in June 2015 and I stopped. For about 20 minutes in a high traffic area (inside Loop, lots of retail stores and visitors, at dusk) my bike was locked to a secure stand with a crypto U-lock, but no cable around the wheels. However, I had Sunlite Lock n' Roll…
