Review on White Replacement Plastic Power ON-Off Keyboards Keypads ๐Ÿ”˜ for Gameboy Color GBC Button A B Control D Pads by Gus Pierson

Buttons look and feel great (except Zelda DX)

I ordered a clear/clear set of these paired with the clear plastic shell you can see in the picture and a glass lens to upgrade a worn out Game Boy Color that I ordered through eBay. I really like the look and the buttons worked well when playing Tetris DX, a few Mario games and RPGs like Dragon Quest III and Pokemon Crystal. Unfortunately, when I started playing The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, I found a small issue with the D-Pad. First, I would like to point out that I used this D-Pad in combination with the original rubber membrane that came with the Game Boy Color. shorter than the original D-Pad that comes with the Game Boy color blocks, allowing you to simultaneously press 3 or even all 4 directional connectors on the Game Boy motherboard. Unfortunately, Link's Awakening DX has a bug that causes Link's character sprite to go blank and invisible if too many buttons are pressed at once, which wasn't a problem with the original D-Pad, which could only contact 1-2. instructions immediately. You can technically recreate the same bug with a Game Boy Advance SP using all the standard parts and as this is a specific issue with a particular game I didn't want to reset the stars as otherwise I was 100% satisfied. with these buttons. If Link's Awakening DX isn't on your intended "playlist" for your custom Game Boy, then I don't think this will be a problem for you. If you are interested in Oracle of Seasons/Oracle of Ages Zelda games; I have found that I cannot reproduce this error in these games. There may even be a homegrown method of modifying the cross or membrane to completely solve this problem. I ended up having to go back to the original D-Pad as Link's Awakening DX is one of my favorite console games and as a result I also had to swap the original a and b buttons to get everything to fit together. I left the transparent power button in place as it fits the transparent aesthetic of the case better than the original black and gray button. Solve the problem if you face it like me.
