StarTech specs say this is a Type-C USB 3.1 enclosure Read/write speeds of only 42.1MB/s and 42.1MB/s respectively 36.5MB/s. I called StarTech customer service at 1-800 and a friendly representative informed me that this was most likely related to my SSD issue. So, without disassembling the phone yet, I removed my SSD and installed it in a Unitek USB-C enclosure and the speed was measured at 520MB/412MB. This was on a 2017 15" MacBook Pro. I will say the case is super durable, dust and water resistant, and has a nice protective rubber bumper. There's even a cover with a rubber grommet that snaps into place to keep debris out of the USB C connector away.I sent the StarTech back case for Revain.
