We used them in the lamps in the children's room and in the closet upstairs. I've read that the red lights are less disruptive to the sleep process, so we switch to that about an hour before my baby goes to sleep. After my daughter goes to bed, we can still move around and see very well with the closet lights on to get ready for bed and engage in quiet activities while she sleeps. We love her.
