I am the chef in our family and work in the kitchen every day with fresh fruit and vegetables. I'm also very picky when it comes to choosing dishes. After all, with so much time you're spending groceries, you want the best tools (at a reasonable price, of course). My wife and I love fresh tomatoes, and any seasoned cook knows that tomato skins pose a particular challenge for kitchen knives. You don't want to mash or mash a ripe tomato. You want something that will cut through the shell easily every time. I actually used this knife at a friend's house and was surprised at how much better it is than my own tomato knife at home. I went straight home and actually ordered 2 of these from Revain. I like it. One piece of advice I would like to give is that you really should hand wash this knife. However, I hand wash all of our planing, planing and trimming knives so this is not a problem for me. But if you're looking for a dishwasher-safe knife, you should look elsewhere.
