I bought this product hoping to avoid hand soldering in my project. I plugged everything into these outlets, plugged in the power and blew the fuse because those outlets shorted out my lines. As a result, we connected +5V to ground. As far as I could tell, the problem was the "prongs" at the top, which cut into the connector when closed. There were two prongs, the first bit on the right between data and ground and the other between +5V and ground, but if they went too low (which they did in some cases) they would cause shorts. Opening the connector eliminated the short, but closing it again brought the short back. Even when I found out which connectors were shorted and removed them, I was still unhappy. After plugging in two of these plugs (I used two in a row for a 180 degree rotation), my whites weren't as white, indicating a voltage drop. Eventually I gave up and threw away those connectors and hand soldered them and all my voltage drop issues went away. Definitely not a good buy. NOTE: My rating has been moved from 1* to 2*. This product is still a definite 'don't buy' but I'm at least glad that BTF Lighting contacted me and after showing them how the short happened, rectified the situation by allowing me to do that Returning product even though I'd damaged it when it was removed from my project.
