Seriously, looks the same as the remote that came with the TV. Of course it works the same way. The original remote started to work intermittently after 2 years of daily use. You could beat it up for a while and get it working again, but then it stopped working at all. I'm a retired electrical engineer and thought I knew what the problem might be so I took it apart. It contained a hidden manufacturing defect known as "cold soldering". There are only 4 parts in the whole board: a capacitor, a resistor, an IR diode, and a microcircuit (which performs all the digital functions). The capacitor was cold soldered to one of the two terminals. Since these things are not designed to be taken apart, disassembly may damage the plastic case. I would throw it away anyway. On the other hand, there were absolutely no signs of wear on the button placket. So I hope this new remote will last as long as the TV is on, however long that may be.
