Review on Family-Focused Set Collecting Creators by Grandpa Becks by Jerome Brooks

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A multi-generational game based on theft, backstab and ambush.

. So I thought I should buy it and give it a try. I ended up putting this game in the same category as Cards Against Humanity. Some people will like the malicious nature of the game, but I prefer games that are a bit softer, lighter, and encourage positive social interactions. (A more familiar version of this game is called "Goat Lords" and has similar rules, but it feels stranger and the young man is less likely to be crushed like a bug.) (Please see the attached images.) The rules are relatively simple. There are assets of various denominations from $5,000 (piggy bank, .) to $20,000 (house, .) and two types of wild cards, gold and silver. (None of these are marked as wild, although the rules clearly state gold and silver wilds.) On your turn, you may: (1) draw a card and discard a card, (2) play a matching set (two of one variety or a card and a wild card) and draw two cards, (3) draw the top discard and play a matching set, or (4) challenge another player's high set by playing either a matching card or a wild card . by countering a defending player playing another copy of a card that fits the set, or by playing a wild card. This continues until one side or the other stops playing or decides not to play. When we first started playing, we spent most of our time optimizing our hands and counting stacks through careful play. There were a few issues, but that was a small part of the game. In 2+ games, the focus was on collecting wild cards and teaming up with one or the other player to win all of his or her matching sets (minus the first set, which is always safe). The game has always focused on a few high value assets like a house (worth $20,000). There was a significant age difference between the players (three generations). Although the rules state it is suitable for ages 7 and up, I recommend it for the group of ages 14 and up due to the vicious nature of the game. Our 20's enjoy the game and take great pleasure in pushing each other. it went too far, and then there was a three-day silent feud over the holidays. If you like Cards Against Humanity and the apparent hope that fades in the eyes of your enemy (ahem, opposing player) then you might like this one. For me "Goat Lords" or "Apples to Apples" is the best choice for family games.

Pros
  • . Testers praise support and durability.
Cons
  • .Secret.
