So far, so good. Clear camera image and much faster installation than wired devices.

When my sister asked me to install a wired backup camera system on my mom's SUV, I knew better and went with a wireless unit instead. I have experience installing wired equipment such as video head antennas, speakers, lights, etc., and if you want everything to look right, removing the wires and running them under the carpet and in the cracks is a chore. Enter wireless backup cameras (I'd reclassify these as 'semi-wireless') that cut installation time in half, if not a day. I installed this in about 1 hour and am a bit of a perfectionist. Of course I have many special tools to help. I drilled a hole for the tailgate of an SUV above the license plate near the built-in lamp. Insert a wired camera into the hole and add silicone glue to prevent rainwater, etc. from entering the drill hole. The rest was cheers. The camera wires are connected to an RF signal transmitter that needs to be connected to a backup light for power. It would be nice if they provided faucet/quick splice clamps. I found a suitable socket for the reverse light and soldered two RF transmitter power wires to the corresponding reverse light wire terminals. The LCD was easier to install. It comes with a suction cup windshield mount that can be placed almost anywhere. I decided to mount it low on the windshield so the cigarette lighter power supply could be plugged in without the power cord being too visible. I plan to remove this later by connecting the wire directly to the fuse box. Turned the car on, put the car in reverse, shut off the engine but left the power on and applied the emergency brake to stop the car from rolling. You can then adjust the camera angle for the exact position you want to see. Works, and as they say colloquially "liketno split".
