This is my third MikroTik product - I love it. They cost less than most high-end and high-end consumer networking equipment, but rival the best enterprise devices in terms of functionality and performance. This, combined with the fact that the control interfaces are identical across all hardware as they are all based on MikroTik RouterOS, makes it a solid choice. And you can manage devices over the web, SSH, Telnet, and native applications. I'm a software developer, not a network specialist, so it took me a bit of work to get used to the basics, but it's well worth the investment. Once I have a configuration I like, I can save it to a file and replay it when needed - no more tedious configuration through obscure GUIs, although MikroTik has some GUI technologies that can be used. I had to furnish a moderately complex house. net and spent a lot of time identifying devices supported by OpenWRT, Lede, etc. I found purchasing a specific make, model, and version of supported devices to be nearly impossible. And of course, OpenWRT, Lede, etc. only support wireless access points. MikroTiks RouterOS is also used on their wired routers, so the setup/management experience is the same across the product line. You can spend some time to learn it, but you only need to learn it once and can use it anywhere after that. I will never waste my time with OpenWRT and Co. ever again. I installed it on a pole in my backyard about 50 feet from my house (it's weatherproof). The 2GHz and 5GHz signals are strong in every room in my house. I am very impressed with his performance. If you're not very tech savvy or don't want to deal with a small learning curve, this might not be the best choice for you.
