Great modern update of an old 90's favorite

It's hard to tell if this will appeal to nostalgic 90's kids or real kids, but as someone who hasn't touched a Tamagotchi in two decades, I am I'm amazed at how far this little virtual pet has come. Kids these days get all the cool toys. For all the talk of nostalgia, this isn't your millennial's Tamagotchi. The color backlit screen is a huge upgrade and all the animations are incredibly varied and charming. The traditional three buttons can be a bit unwieldy in a world that runs on touchscreens and it would be great if you could charge this thing without batteries, but those are minor complaints. live as long as possible and get a certain character in the end, with on, no end. You can marry your Tama to other characters you meet, or chat with someone else's Tamagotchi in person or through the companion app. They follow descendants through generations and create an amazing virtual legacy. A big part of the fun is seeing how kids grow up. There are games to play, areas to unlock, spouses, tons of stuff to buy, and hey, your pet even gets a pet of their own that can have kids too. You still have to feed, play and bathe the little guy like before, but this time there's a lot more to do than cleaning poop and your Tama won't die if you turn your back on him. five seconds. If mine isn't dead now.
