Received this today and was dying to check it out. I opened the box and inserted the two batteries that came with it. Turned on and set at 85 ft/lbs. I got to the 3rd nut and the numbers kept getting dimmer and dimmer until the LCD screen went blank. I pressed the power button but the LCD screen was still blank. I was wondering if the unit was still on so I put it on my torque wrench which was set at 85ft/lb and found the Acdelco was still on and the beeper was working but the LCD screen was still empty. I opened it up again, mixed up the batteries, turned it back on and the LCD worked. Continue tightening the remaining nuts, but the LCD screen began to dim and dim again and went out a second time within 5 minutes of use. I returned this unit for another unit hoping it was just bad luck. Needless to say I'm not happy yet, but I'll try again and update my rating and review if I'm lucky with the next one. EDIT: Got a second one, installed the batteries that came with it and left. tighten my eyelets. I got to the second wheel, and the numbers started fading and fading again. Exactly the same symptoms as the first time. I decided to buy brand new batteries and that solved the problem. Apparently they've either been sitting long enough that the included batteries are almost dead, or the batteries are just that bad. I am deducting a star for junk batteries and a star because the set torque requires the unit to beep continuously. reached. If you are within 10% of the target torque, the device will start beeping intermittently and will not beep continuously until the target number is exceeded. This forces you to keep a constant eye on the LCD screen, which requires you to remove it from the tab and readjust it to be able to see the screen. These are just my quibbles, but it's worth mentioning. I am very satisfied with the accuracy of fit. I compared it to my friend's digital camera and was amazed. Overall I am satisfied and will probably buy more.
