I have a couple of parrots and another budgie who most of the time rarely plays with his toys. However, they absolutely love this sand swing. I can almost guarantee you're swinging on that bar right now. My pair of parrots take turns: one of them is sitting on a perch, the other is urging him to move. They file nails better than my other perches (Living World Pedi-Barch, Mini and JW Pet Company Insight Sand Perch Bird Accessory, Small). I like to give my birds a variety of perches of different widths and textures, and we also have regular wooden perches, plastic chains and rope perches for variety and to keep them from scrubbing their feet. In fact, all the sand bars I own have different widths along the bar to put stress on the feet and legs, which reduces foot injuries (pain, arthritis, and leg strengthening). It's like giving them a lot of shoes - you have a couple of comfortable, well-fitting shoes and a couple of uncomfortable high-heeled shoes. If your feet get tired, put on comfortable shoes to prevent foot pain. It might not be the best quality sand bass anyway, but I don't know of a better quality nail shell bass that's designed like a parrot sized bird swing. My birds love it and when they are happy I am happy.
