Don't let this model distract you!

DO NOT RECEIVE THIS MODEL. Okay, after watching commercials and Costco how-to's as a kid, I was so excited I saved up for my first Vita Mix. The best blender right?! For context, I've been making smoothie bowls at a restaurant with other Vitamix models for 4 years and it was the best and they worked great. I'm starting a new cover. The hard plastic makes it difficult to align the lid properly to create a seal and is difficult to clean. If you don't line it up correctly, everything on the counter will explode. The old rubber cap was much better. Also new is that the wand comes with the cheapest plastic. Not as good as the old version. Next, don't get distracted by fancy buttons. The pulse button can withstand a good squeeze and the on/off button is sensitive. The speed dial is good, but not a big deal. The screen is clear and unusual, which looks beautiful. Now power, the blade will stop every time it feels air. The motor just keeps running, but the blade doesn't work, so you have to keep turning the machine on and off. I make several smoothies and although people say that a larger capacity doesn't work well with a smaller amount, I found this to be true no matter how much I used. However, once you add a lot more water, the consistency becomes very smooth. BUT I will never be able to make a thick smoothie bowl because of this. Very disappointed with this new model. I'd say don't let the flashy finish fool you like me and buy the older version. I've had it for three months now and only decided to keep it because I got a good deal on Prime Day and I like the long warranty.
